It is a great pleasure to report on my recent distinguished lecturer tour in the rich area of “Bilad Al-Sham,” a sub-region of West Asia that borders the Eastern Mediterranean, also known as the “Levant.” The tour was particularly in Jordan in July 2025. It involved three lectures at three leading academic institutions in Jordan. The talks gave rise to inspiring discussions, meetings, and interactions. The visit and follow-on discussions are expected to lead to collaboration opportunities.
The third edition of Teleweek 2025 was held on April 24th at Escuela Politécnica Nacional (EPN) in Quito, Ecuador. The IEEE ComSoc Ecuador Chapter, the IEEE ComSoc Student Branch Chapter at EPN, and the IEEE AP-S, MTT-S, and RFID Joint Chapter jointly organized this event. The event brought together academia, students, and professionals for a dynamic and practice-oriented experience focused on wireless systems and radiocommunication technologies.
In 2024, Thai IEEE ComSoc and Quantum Information (Q-Thai.Org) Forum continued their mission to educate the local community with a series of high-impact seminars. These events brought global expertise, providing crucial insights into communications and quantum information technology, and all were successfully reported at the IEEE Thailand Section’s annual general meeting (November 30).
Today, I have the great pleasure to interview Douglas Zuckerman, IEEE ComSoc Communications History Committee Chair. Doug has been a great friend of mine for a long time since my first steps in ComSoc. He is the ComSoc President who introduced me to the Board of Governors when he appointed me Director of Education in 2008, already a far-off year. He helped me a great deal at that time, showing me the ropes and making me feel at ease in a world that was completely new to me. Currently, he serves as Chair of the ComSoc Standing Committee on Communications History.
